Visit each author blog in the hop and comment on their blog hop post. You’ll receive one entry for every comment you leave. But, there’s a tiny catch. Instead of a quick drive-by “thanks for the chance” comment, we’d like to really hear from the readers and get to know their likes and dislikes. So, in order for your entry to count, you have to say one thing you like or don’t like about the author’s blog, book, or any other book related topic that directly relates to that author. Be honest, but also try to be kind. Authors genuinely appreciate what their readers have to say, and we want to hear from YOU!

And now read on about the mystery of a famous mansion…
The Winchester name has a long standing association with the paranormal. Just ask Sam and Dean Winchester from the hit show Supernatural. Funny, the only connection between the Winchester boys and the Winchester mansion is the association with the paranormal. I’d love to see them visit the mansion on the show and find Sarah Winchester’s ghost!
So what exactly is the Winchester mansion ?
A brief history of the Winchester mansion.
Located in San Jose, California, the Winchester mansion was the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of rifle magnate William Winchester.
After the death of her husband and child, Sarah Winchester moved West, where she bought a farm house and commenced the building of a house that was supposedly an instruction from her late husband (through a medium) who wanted her to build a house for herself and the spirits of those who were killed by the Winchester rifle. Sarah believed that the Winchester name was cursed by the spirits of people killed by the rifle.
The Winchester house was rumored to have been a non-stop construction from its inception in 1884 to the date of Sarah Winchester’s death, September 1922.
The Winchester mansion is notorious for its size, its lack of a building plan, it’s maze like passageways, the outrageous number of rooms and the seemingly secret chambers and cabinets.
Sarah was said to have added to the design of the house according to the promoting of the spirits.
Winchester mansion was made with modern amenities as Sarah spared no expense in building the house .
The house has long since been made a historical location with tours been offered to people. The tours are powered by the mystery that clings to the Winchester mansion.
A haunted house: The Winchester ghosts
Several stories have gone around as to why the Winchester mansion is haunted.
One version of the story says that Sarah Winchester was haunted by the spirits of those who were killed by the Winchester rifles and so she had to build a complex house. According to the story, Sarah always made changes to the house plans and designed a labyrinth of a house to confuse the spirits.
Another version says that Sarah Winchester built the house with so many rooms, so that she could sleep in a different room everyday.
Sarah was rumored to have believed that when she stopped building she would die.
The house is filled with evidence of Sarah Winchester dabbling in the spiritual to ward of malevolent spirits. The occurrence of the number 13 all over the house.
Legend has it that Sarah had meetings or conferences with the spirits concerning the design of the house.
The house which was over seven stories tall was hit by an earthquake and Sarah ordered the damaged part closed up to trap the spirits that went down with the house.
In modern times
The Winchester house is open to the public and has been reported as a maze of a house that gives a sort of insight to the other side. As an avid paranormal writer I’d love to be able to visit this great historical building. Have any of you visited? If so, what did you like or dislike about it?
